Today I wanted to share with you two of my favourite lip liners. While both of these are very similar shades the formulas are very different, so lets compare and see who comes out on top.
BareMinerals Marvelous Moxi Lip Liner: Electrified
BareMinerals Lip Liners are not that well known in the beauty community which is such a shame because they really are outstanding. I believe the current collection contains around 10 colours (don’t quote me), mainly focusing on nudes and neutral shades but also including a red, pink and dark purple. I own several of these liners and use them all the time.
Electrified was actually my first BareMinerals Lip Liner purchase because I knew it would work with a whole bunch of my lipsticks and I was completely right. This shade is a deep berry based red, meaning it can work for both reds and purples depending on the look you are trying to accomplish.
BarMinerals Lip Liners are a slightly waxy formula with a precision tip this makes it easy to apply and create the ‘perfect’ lip with ease. The formula holds in place very well but does not dry or clump like other wax based Liners which is great.
Electrified is housed in a mechanical pencil, which means no sharpening. However this also means that if the lid is not applied correctly after every use the pencil is at risk of drying out quite quickly.
These Lip Liners retail for $21.00AUD at Mecca stores.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil: Venom
Urban Decay is famous for a lot of their products and their Lip Pencils are no exception. This range includes around 30 colours (again don’t quote me) which is quite a few for any brand, but amazing. Again I own quite a few of these Lip Pencils and adore each and every one of them.
Venom is a deep, berry purple shade. On first application you can create a subtle purple effect but the more it is built up, the colour really does intensify. Again this shade can be used under both reds and purples, however unlike Electrified it will work best under purple based shades because of the depth of the base shades.
The Urban Decay Lip Pencils are a traditional Pencil that must be sharpened. This design has both pros and cons. Because the pencil is completely enclosed is removes the risk of the pencil drying out if the lid is left off, however this also means the pencil needs sharpening often and in order to create a precise lip look.
The formula is also very creamy which is a trait that most pencil lip liners have in common, this means it is easier to apply and can be worn on its own as a lip colour but doesn’t last as long as a wax based liner.
Urban Decay Lip Pencils retail at Mecca for $33.00AUD.
Out of the two I find myself reaching for the BareMinerals Electrified more often because the lasting power is fantastic, however I am very lucky to own both and will be keeping both as I do love them for different reasons. If you are looking to purchase just one I would highly recommend the BareMinerals.
