I have been a huge fan of all Covergirl Mascaras for a very long time. The Lash Blast original is my Holy Grail. This is why I always get super excited when a new Mascara launches. I have previously tried the Covergirl Clump Crusher original and really did love the formula, it is a whole lot more natural then Lash Blast but beautiful in its own right. When I saw Clump Crusher Extensions I got very excited because it has be marketed as a lengthening and slightly more dramatic version of the original which was something I was dying to try.
To start with the wand is exactly the same wand as in the original design (I am pretty sure), but the product has added tiny fibres which make the formula slightly thicker. You can notice a little more product holding to the wand. The colour also seems slightly darker to me, even though I have purchased the same shade, it may be because the product is binding together more in the tube and then therefore on the lashes.
I find I need to apply at least 2-3 coats of any mascara to get the look I am after and this is no exception. I start with one layer focusing on the roots to add curl, then a second on the mid-lengths to add dimension and separate and then a final layer on the ends to add curl and length. This method helps to give the lashes a great finish.
This mascara is flake and smudge free as with all Covergirl mascaras, which is something a lot of High-End product as not, I don’t really understand how Drugstore brands can sort it out but the likes of Lancome, Too Faced and YSL cannot (rant over). Extensions also does not flake, but rather leaves some movement on the lashes so they do not go to hard to crunchy.
As the name would suggest this mascara is clump free which I love, this means it works great on the lower lashes as well. The size of the wand not only helps shape the upper lashes but is thin enough to nicely fit the lower lashes as well. Is the mascara more lengthening then its predecessor? YES! I love the added length of the fibres, while it is not incredibly dramatic or long as some people were hoping, I love the final look of the mascara. Dark, Long but separated and clump free.
Will I be purchasing it again in the future? Yes!
