I am an avid perfume wearer. From the time that I started to understand what perfume was and I would buy whatever celebrity fragrance that was on offer until today where I have really narrowed down my fragrances and now lean towards just two different scents.
Juicy Couture: Viva La Juicy
Firstly we have my go to day time fragrance, Juicy Couture’s Viva La Juicy. This fragrance has been around for quite a long time at this point and has a resurgence in popularity around every eighteen months. I discovered this Fragrance almost six years ago (how time fly’s) and I was hooked, however as a broke eighteen year old there was no way I could afford the hefty $75.00AUD price tag, so I just dreamed. Role on almost two years later and I had it in my hot little hands, I was sold.
This fragrance has notes of Orange, Caramel, Amber, Berries and a Mixture of white florals. I find that on my skin The Orange notes are the main top notes with the scent settling to a warm, strong mixture of Caramel, Amber, Vanilla and Praline. That sounds very overwhelming but I find the scent just perfect for a warm day time scent. I don’t find that the floral notes come through on me at all which is great because I am more of a fruity then floral person.
I would say the wear time on this fragrance is around six hours which is moderate for a day time scent, If I was doing something important in the afternoon I would reapply a few spritzes to refresh for the rest of the day. Viva La Juicy retails for around $69.95AUD depending on when and where it is available.
YSL: Black Opium
Now for my night time fragrance, that sometimes also doubles as my day time scent as well. Black Opium launched in November of 2014 as the new star of the YSL Fragrance line and boy were they onto a good thing.
A beautiful mix of Pear, Coffee, Vanilla and Cedar with subtle notes of orange blossom. Pink Pepper is also a leading note however I cannot really pick up this note at all besides a subtle spice mixed in with the base notes. The strong scents all mixed together create a rather unique scent experience that I have not found anywhere else. While Black Opium has been compared to many other fragrances I find that it really does hold its own against all of the rest.
I do want to warn that unlike Viva La Juicy which is almost universally loved, Black Opium is a very selective fragrance that not everyone is going to love, it is extremely strong and so not for the faint of heat but also is slightly masculine which is not everyones cup of tea. This will be one of my long time fragrance loves but I do recommend going and having a smell before you purchase it. Black Opium currently retails at Myer for $199.00 for the 90ml bottle.
I hope you have enjoyed my two current most worn fragrances!
