The trendy product of the moment has to be the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm, super random I know, but if you haven’t already heard about it you must be living under a rock. The idea came about when NikkieTutorials was short of a moisturiser and needed something quickly. Since then the product has really blown up but I am yet to find a review that answers all of my question so I thought I had better give it a go and write one for myself.
The basic idea behind this working as a primer is that it contains a high level of glycerin which is an ingredient that brings moisture to the surface causing a glue like effect. Glycerin in its pure form is very bad for the skin and can cause dryness and even blistering so brand use high quantity’s of Water (aqua) to balance out this issue. Nivea have also included Chamomile and Vitamin E to calm the skin and put vital vitamins back into the skin receptively.
The one down side to this product is the scent. It is extremely strong and overwhelming. The scent does smell like sexy man which is nothing to complain about but it is so strong I find it a little too much for everyday use. If you have any sensitivity to fragrance I would try and give this product a go before you purchase it.
To be perfectly honest I don’t notice a huge difference with or without this product. My foundation does go on smoothly and evenly which is always something I am looking for in a primer but as far as the lasting benefits they are no different then almost any other primer on the market.
Overall I would say this is a nice primer but doesn’t give any major benefits that make it revolutionary or life changing on my oily skin. I will continue to use this especially if I need to help a foundation glide onto the skin but for creating a longer lasting effect I will continue to use my other primers.
